I originally created the still frames comprising Strained Duality for Haunted Diva, an animated text sampled from the image of Bianca Barnett. I was very pleased with the way Haunted Diva turned out. There is something fascinating and conflicted about Bianca Barnett. I think the conflict stems from the fact that she is striving to be both an artist and a pop culture icon, a scream queen and an actress, a feminist and a B-movie diva. Strained Duality touches upon these contradictions. It is composed of 22 image/text still frames, which form a text loop (i.e., the 22nd image/text links contextually back to the 1st).
