Intro to Peace Kills!

This is the second time I find myself delving into Orwellian Newspeak. The first time was in a self-contained animated text called Frank Luntz and the Orwellian Paradigm, which I created to illustrate how linguistics can eclipse ideas. Truly, I have nothing but respect for Frank Luntz, who fully grasps the ramifications of a media-saturated society. When the web manifested itself in our present-day media grid, it offered access to nearly unlimited information, but this proved far less enlightening than we had originally hoped. Why? Because possessing such a rich information resource can be as frustrating as it is empowering. What makes it frustrating is that a society raised on electronic media has been conditioned to respond to stimuli, not information. Opening the information faucet almost invariably leads to overload. We need a better understanding of the way various media operate. The animation for which these words serve as introduction lampoons a Rorschach test approach to electronically generated text, wherein one's political leanings supposedly shade interpretation. The animation lasts just under 1 minute and 15 seconds, then loops. A high-speed Internet connection is required and I recommend using Firefox as your browser.
