Intro to Melding Ritual
I call this animation Melding Ritual because it melds imagery of
Legs
Malone and Runaround Sue, the two talented, beautiful women who
run Sugar
Shack Burlesque in New York City. (Note: Legs Malone is no longer affiliated with Sugar Shack Burlesque.) Along with the animation itself, I
am posting the 100 individual images comprising the animation in 4
online galleries. The animation consist of 25 color studies and 25
grayscale studies of Legs Malone + 25 color studies and 25 grayscale
studies of Runaround Sue - ergo the 4 galleries. The point of posting
the individual still images is twofold. First, it helps illustrate the
process involved in creating the animation. More importantly, putting
these still images online acknowledges how Flash is expanding my canvas
as on artist. Flash has made me think in terms of bigger, more textured
imagery. You can click through the galleries in three different ways: 1)
by clicking on the numbers in the numbers strip beneath the images, 2)
by clicking on the next image link at the front of the numbers strip, 3)
by clicking on the image itself. And you return to this intro by
clicking on the intro link at the end of the numbers strip. The
animation, which loops, requires a high-speed Internet connection. Even
with a high-speed connection, it will likely run slower than the
intended rate in its initial run-through, before taking off
full-throttle beginning with its second cycle.
