Intro to love is....

As I explore Flash animation, it is plain to me that Flash animations demand their own section on Illumination Gallery, and so with this animation I am launching Flash Illuminations. This is the second animation I have created using Flash. The first, A Reading Exercise, was posted in the Illuminated Sketchpad section. A Reading Exercise was just that: an exercise tapping into the nuances of Flash. Flash offers levels of control way beyond animated GIFs (the form I have been creating animations in for over a decade). A Reading Exercise animated one of my favorite poems by e.e. cummings. Because I am not fully satisfied with how that animation turned out, I am making a second attempt at capturing what the poem means to me. Really, that first attempt proved more about capturing cummings' technique. Flash is making me think less in terms of dynamically animating text in the letter-by-letter fashion I came to do with my animated GIFs and which A Reading Exercise mimicked in a souped-up way. Presently my aim with Flash is to juxtapose text & image as opposed to melding them together. Thus cummings' love poem evokes a feminine image that quickly turns darkly magical. The darkly magical woman whose image I sampled/processed for this piece is Susan Gardner (AKA Runaround Sue).
